    Roofing

How much does a roof replacement cost on the Eastern Shore?

Roof replacement costs $8,000–$25,000 depending on size, pitch, material, and structural condition. Architectural shingles average $10,000–$18,000 for a standard home.

What roofing materials do you recommend?

Owens Corning Duration architectural shingles for most homes (130 mph wind, algae protection, 50-year warranty). Standing seam metal for waterfront properties. Cedar shake for historic homes. F-Wave synthetic for maximum hail resistance.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential replacements are completed in 1–3 days. Larger or complex roofs may take 4–5 days.

When should I repair vs. replace my roof?

Repair when damage is under 30% and the roof is under 15 years old. Replace when over 20 years old, damage is widespread, or repair costs exceed 30% of replacement cost.

Do you offer emergency roof repair?

Yes. We provide 24-hour emergency response throughout the Eastern Shore. Call (443) 675-6485. Emergency tarping costs $500–$1,500.

    What warranties do you offer?

Platinum Protection Limited Warranty: 50-year material coverage, 25-year workmanship coverage backed by Owens Corning, fully transferable to new homeowners.

How much does a metal roof cost?

Standing seam metal roofing costs $15,000–$30,000. Metal shingles cost $12,000–$25,000. Metal lasts 40–70 years with 140+ mph wind resistance.

What is the Shore Protection Tune-Up?

Annual roof and gutter maintenance program including 25-point inspection, gutter cleaning, minor repairs, and written condition report. Costs $200–$400 and extends roof life 5–10 years.

How often should I have my roof inspected?

At least once a year and after every major storm. Annual inspections catch small problems — a cracked boot or lifted shingle — before they turn into leaks. We offer free inspections for all Eastern Shore homeowners.

    Insurance & Financing

Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes. We handle the entire insurance claims process for storm damage repairs. We document damage with detailed photos, meet your adjuster on-site, and file supplemental claims when the initial estimate is too low. There's no extra charge for this — it's part of the service.

How does the insurance claim process work?

You call us, we inspect for free and document the damage. You file a claim with your insurer. They send an adjuster — we meet them at your property and walk the roof together. Once approved, we schedule the work and coordinate payment directly with your insurance company.

    Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer 0% interest for up to 24 months, monthly payments starting at $99, and terms up to 144 months for larger projects. We also provide a 10% discount for seniors, veterans, and active military. Financing covers all services.

Do I have to pay anything upfront?

For insurance jobs, your only out-of-pocket cost is your deductible. For non-insurance projects, we collect a deposit before ordering materials and the balance upon completion. We never ask for full payment before starting work.

    Siding & Exteriors

How much does siding replacement cost?

Vinyl: $10,000–$15,000. James Hardie fiber cement: $15,000–$22,000. LP SmartSide: $11,000–$18,000. Natural cedar: $18,000–$28,000. Based on a standard Eastern Shore home.

What siding material is best for the Eastern Shore?

Vinyl for zero-maintenance durability and value. James Hardie fiber cement for premium performance near the Bay. LP SmartSide for authentic wood aesthetics without wood maintenance.

When should I replace vs. repair siding?

Replace when damage exceeds 30% of the surface area, when moisture is infiltrating behind the siding in multiple locations, or when the material has reached end of life.

How long does siding replacement take?

3–7 days for most homes depending on size and complexity.

What ROI does new siding provide?

68–73% cost recovery at resale, 18 days faster sale, $320–$550/year energy savings, and $21,000–$36,000 in eliminated maintenance over 30 years.

Can you match existing siding for repairs?

In most cases, yes. We stock common profiles and colors from major manufacturers. For discontinued products, we source the closest match or replace full sections so the repair blends in. We bring samples to your home for comparison before ordering.

    Windows & Doors

How much does window replacement cost?

$400–$1,200 per window installed, or $4,500–$8,500 for whole-house (8–10 windows). Vinyl double-hung with Low-E and argon averages $500–$700 each.

How much can new windows save on energy bills?

Replacing single-pane windows saves 25–40% on heating and cooling — $600–$960/year on a typical $2,400 annual bill. Payback in 8–12 years.

What window frame is best for coastal Maryland?

Vinyl frames — zero maintenance, won't corrode in salt air, won't rot or swell in humidity. ProVia Endure and Andersen 400 series are our top picks.

How long does window installation take?

Most homes completed in 1–2 days.

What door options do you offer?

Entry doors ($1,500–$5,000), patio/sliding doors ($2,000–$6,000), storm doors ($400–$1,200). Fiberglass recommended for Eastern Shore coastal conditions.

    Gutters

How much do seamless gutters cost?

Seamless aluminum: $1,200–$3,500 for a standard home ($8–$15/ft). Copper: $3,500+ ($25–$45/ft). Most installations completed in one day.

    Do I need gutter guards?

If you have heavy tree cover (oak, pine, sweetgum), guards pay for themselves in 3–5 years by eliminating $150–$300 cleanings 2–4 times per year. Micro-mesh guards are best for pine needles.

    Should I get 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?

6-inch recommended for large roof areas, steep pitches, and heavy-rain exposure. 6-inch handles 44% more water volume than 5-inch.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

2–4 times per year without guards. With quality guards, annual visual inspection and occasional debris brush-off.

    Maintenance

How do I maintain my gutters?

Clean them 2–4 times per year — spring, late fall, and after major storms. Remove leaves and debris, flush with a hose to check flow, and look for sagging or loose hangers. Or install gutter guards and reduce cleaning to once a year.

What are signs I need new gutters?

Water overflowing during rain, visible rust or holes, gutters pulling away from the fascia, pooling water around your foundation, and peeling paint on your soffits. If your gutters are more than 20 years old and showing any of these signs, replacement is usually more cost-effective than repair.

How do I prevent ice dams?

Proper attic insulation and ventilation are the best defenses. Ice dams form when heat escapes through the roof, melting snow that refreezes at the eaves. We install ridge vents, soffit vents, and insulation baffles to keep your attic cold and even. For existing homes, we can also install ice and water shield membrane along the eaves during your next roof replacement.

How can I extend the life of my roof?

Annual inspections, prompt repairs of small issues, keeping gutters clean, trimming overhanging branches, and ensuring proper attic ventilation. Our Shore Protection Tune-Up program handles all of this for $200–$400 per year and can add 5–10 years to your roof's lifespan.

When should I pressure wash my siding?

Once a year in spring is ideal. Use low pressure (under 1,500 PSI) for vinyl and painted wood. Never pressure wash fiber cement or stucco at high pressure — it can force water behind the siding. We recommend soft washing with a cleaning solution for best results.

    Decking

How much does a new deck cost?

    Composite (Trex/TimberTech): $15,000–$35,000 for a 300 sq ft deck. Pressure-treated wood: $8,000–$20,000. Cedar: $12,000–$25,000.

Composite vs. wood — which is better?

Composite costs more upfront but requires zero maintenance for 25–50 years. Wood requires annual staining ($300–$600/year) and shows deterioration within 5–7 years without it. Over 20 years, composite often costs less total.

Do I need a permit for a deck?

Yes. Deck construction requires a building permit in all Eastern Shore counties. We handle the entire permit process.

How long does deck construction take?

5–15 working days depending on size and complexity, including permit time.

What fence material lasts longest on the Eastern Shore?

Vinyl: 20–30 years with zero maintenance. Composite: 25+ years. Cedar: 15–20 years with staining every 3–5 years. Pressure-treated wood: 10–15 years with staining every 2–3 years.
