ProVia Endure Window Replacement — Taylors Island, MD

Project overview

A whole-home window replacement on a waterfront property on Taylors Island, Maryland, in Dorchester County. Fourteen windows were replaced with ProVia Endure vinyl units. Scope covered removal of the existing windows, opening preparation, installation, insulation and air sealing, flashing, and interior and exterior trim.

Why the homeowner chose ProVia Endure

Endure is ProVia's higher-end vinyl window line. Vinyl was chosen over aluminium because aluminium corrodes in salt air, and over wood because wood on an exposed waterfront elevation is a maintenance commitment most homeowners regret.

The units were specified with Low-E glass and argon gas fill. How much a window upgrade changes a heating bill depends entirely on what is being replaced — going from single-pane to a modern insulated unit is a very different step from replacing a twenty-year-old double-pane window. We tell homeowners that rather than quoting a savings percentage.

Materials and specifications

Fourteen ProVia Endure vinyl replacement windows, ENERGY STAR certified, with Low-E coated glass and argon fill. Foam insulation and air sealing at the perimeter of each opening rather than fibreglass stuffing. Flashing at sills and heads. Exterior trim wrapped to shed water.

Each opening was measured individually. On an older waterfront house, openings are rarely all the same size, and ordering to a single dimension is how you end up with shimmed gaps.

Our process, step by step

In-home consultation with physical window samples. Individual measurement of every opening. Written line-item quote. Manufacture and delivery. Installation, typically working room by room so the house is never open more than it has to be. Air sealing, flashing and trim. Cleanup, operation check on every sash, and a walkthrough.

Eastern Shore considerations

Taylors Island is about as exposed as Dorchester County gets — open water, wind with nothing to slow it, and salt in the air year round. That rules out some frame materials outright and puts real weight on the seal and flashing details around each unit.

Design pressure ratings vary by product and by opening size, and no single number applies to a whole house. When a coastal home needs a specific rating, that comes from the product's published data for that unit, not from a general claim.

Warranty

ProVia publishes its own limited warranty for Endure windows, covering the product and its components under ProVia's stated terms and registration requirements. Those documents go to the homeowner. Our installation workmanship is covered by our labour warranty as stated on the contract.
